Mauritius seeks investment in tourism

ISLAMABAD: Mauritius’s Acting High Commissioner Mervin Nadrajen said his country is keen to promote bilateral trade with Pakistan as both countries have potential for cooperation in several areas including hospitality industry, while addressing business representatives at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday. He said Mauritius can be a stepping stone for Pakistan to enter Southern and Eastern African markets. He also highlighted Mauritius’s status as a tourist hotspot hosting 1.5 million people annually, while asking Pakistani businesses to invest in his country’s tourism industry. Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Khalid Iqbal Malik said that despite signing a preferential trade agreement, bilateral trade below Pakistan and Mauritius did not reflect its true potential.
