ISLAMABAD:
As many as 2,500 policemen will be deployed across the capital to maintain law and order during Eidul Azha as the Islamabad Police finalised a security plan on Thursday. SSP Sajid Kiani, who chaired a meeting of senior officers, said that vacations of all police officers and personnel have been suspended. It was also decided that no one would be allowed to sell sacrificial animals at locations other than at the CDA-designated cattle market. The SSP directed officials to ensure security for the cattle market and said negligence would not be tolerated. Moreover, the show of weapons would be restricted in the district. SSP Kiani directed all officers to remain active and take measures to arrest street criminals who may take advantage of the increased movement in shopping malls and other crowded areas. Patrolling by police and Rangers would also be increased while special deployment would be ensured at recreational places and markets. It was decided that vehicles would not be parked near religious Eid gatherings.
