PCSW stresses implementation of laws on gender equality

Chairperson highlighted prominent features and rights protected in each treaty

LAHORE: Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) is making efforts to ensure implementation of women related laws and policies, which were enacted to eliminate discrimination and encourage gender equality in the province.

Gender equality: Collective platform to help inclusion of women

During a three-day training session on humanity, altruism and citizenship, organised by the Ministry of Human Rights and the Centre for Policing and Security at Punjab University, PCSW chairperson Fauzia Viqar spoke comprehensively on international treaties. She highlighted prominent features and rights protected in each treaty, along with redress mechanisms and monitoring bodies for each Convention.

The chairperson encouraged academics to conduct research on rights of deprived segments and also include these themes in the curricula, to aid social development and a culture of tolerance among the youth.
