FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) demolished three illegal housing colonies on Tuesday. According to an FDA spokesperson, the developers of the said housing schemes were issued repeated notices to have them regularised but failed to comply with these directives.

He said that according to the Punjab Development of Cities Act, no person or department could develop any housing colony without FDA permission.

The FDA recently launched a crackdown against illegal housing schemes in the district.

The spokesperson said that warning letters had also been issued to the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Pakistan Tele Communication Limited  and Water and Sanitation Agency not to provide services to any colony without ascertaining its legal status.

The revenue department was also been requested not to register the sale and purchase deeds of any illegal housing scheme.
