Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that the province of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) and its highways have central importance in reference to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Ahsan made the statement while talking to Chief Minister G-B Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman in the federal capital, Radio Pakistan reported.
According to him, the PML-N led federal government is taking concrete measures to promote tourism in the province.
Mega projects: CPEC to create jobs in G-B
Ahsan said the government would fully support the G-B government in a bid to maintain peace in the region.
Earlier this year, G-B Minister Excise and Taxation Haider Khan was hopeful that CPEC would speed up economic activity and overcome unemployment from the province.
He said the provincial government was devising a strategy to utilise the natural resources of G-B for development. The government is giving special attention to the promotion of tourism, energy and road infrastructure, the minister added.
