Pakistanis reciprocate India by singing their national anthem

PESHAWAR: To reciprocate the goodwill gesture of an Indian band singing Pakistan's national anthem, two local bands have joined hands to sing the Indian anthem in a bid to spread the "message of peace" as the two countries celebrate their independence.

'Core De Band' and musician Samar Kakakhel from Peshawar are five engineering students who have a passion for music.

Kakakhel proposed the idea of singing the Indian anthem a few weeks ago. However, the endeavour materialised on Monday.



"The aim is to spread the message of love and peace on both sides of the border," he told The Express Tribune.

Kakakhel said they received a positive response once the anthem went viral on social media.



The Indian page 'Voice of Ram' posted the video as a response to India's version.

"I went through hundreds of comments we received for the video and realised that people on both sides of the border want better bilateral relations," he said. "We can resolve our issues with India through dialogue.".

The video received a positive response on social media with people lauding the effort.



One of the comments on the video read: "We fought together, bled together, died together for the same cause. It’s beautiful to see we are celebrating our Independence together, Happy Independence day to Pakistanis and Indians, love and peace from India.”
