Youth join hands to help poor and orphaned students

Non-profit organisation was established in February 2016 and has 42 members

PESHAWAR: In a gesture of goodwill and driven by compassion and humanity a group of students in Peshawar have banded together to help deserving people, enrol poor and orphaned children in school and provide bags, books and uniforms from their own pocket money.

Motivated by a spirit of altruism and a specific agenda to serve deprived and orphaned children a young man Bilal Sethi-17 and his friends have started an organisation Triumphant Organisation (TO) the basic aim of which is to serve needy people and bring back to school poor and orphaned children.

This non-profit organisation was established in February 2016 and now has 42 members from different instituitions such as Edwards College Peshawar, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, University of Peshawar, Agricultural University Peshawar, PEF College and some others.

Initially it comprised just a few students but now its membership has reached 42 and they are constanly inviting people to join and help the underprivileged segments of society.

With the zeal to serve the deprived the group initiated a non-profit start-up by sponsoring scholarships for the school children, distributing bags, books and uniform among the poor students.

The group has started a Facebook page also and created a chain of network with each other. Every student has donated Rs300 from their own pocket money and will decide later how best the money can be used in their goal.

The group has held seminars and workshops to raise awareness among students

They have successfully launched an enrolment campaign twice a year and have managed to send some orphans to schools.

They also organised a special programme related to Independence day on Saturday at K-P Archives and Library and distributed gifts among the poor students.



TO President Bilal Sethi who is currently a BS English student of Edwards College Peshawar speaking to The Express Tribune said that TO has provided a platform to the youth to exhibit their talents enabling them to bring out the best in themselves and with a specific ideology of helping the needy from this platform.

Sethi explained that The Triumphant Organisation established in 2016 had one specific aim and that is to be poor centric and help the dispossessed in any way possible.

He added that he was discouraged by many to undertake such a venture but he did not pay heed to them.

On the other hand people like Advisor to K-P Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, former vice chancellor of UoP Dr Qibla Ayaz and Sethi mother’s  Rukhsana Naheed, supported and guided us.

Equipping FATA youth with quality education

Sethi said that all these students working in TO as volunteers and they regularly pay Rs 300 per month from their own pocket money. Sethi said that the team is expanding day by day and now government officers and people from academia have contacted them to join TO.  The young man said that the Doors of TO are open everyone and we welcome all who want to serve humanity. “I use public transport and save money for serving people,” he said. He said that TO totally depends on its students’ contribution which is increasing with time the president said.

Syeda Fatima Hidayat a member of TO and student of SBBWU Peshawar said that around 60% members of TO are females from different universities. “Our family support us for serving deserving people,” she said. Fatima shared that they are thousands of out of school children in district Peshawar due to abject poverty and their parents cannot afford their expenses. “Our little help can resolve big issues of people,” she said. Fatima said that so far they have distributed around 2000 bags and uniform and enrolled hundreds of poor students most of them were orphans.

Another member of TO Fahim Ahmad of PEF College said that youth of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have immense potential but they only lack proper leadership.

He said he had worked as a volunteer in several different organisations and said that youth were prepared to serve people but they should provided platforms. He said TO is genuinely working for deserving people and that’s why we joined hands with them.

Aqsa, student of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, who joined  in April 2017 shared that TO had provided them a great platform. She said that they are not only helping poor people through this platform but it has also boostup our experience. She said that it enhanced and developed her management skills and also encouraged her to participate in different competitions.
