Sialkot celebrates August 14 with traditional zeal

SIALKOT: The 70th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and zeal across Sialkot District on Monday.

The day dawned with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country. To mark the day, flag hoisting ceremonies were held at various parts of the city.

The district government arranged a flag hoisting ceremony at Anwar Club where DCO Dr Umer Sher Chatha and MNA Chaudhry Subhani hoisted the national flag. Similarly, other ceremonies were also held at Jinnah Hall and Sialkot Fort where Minister for Local Bodies Manshaullah Butt and Mayor Toheed Akhtar hoisted the national flag.

In this regard, a special ceremony was held at district jail where a colourful ceremony was organized. ‘Pakistan Zindabad Rally’ was also held that started from Hajipura and concluded at Allama Iqbal Chowk.
