LAHORE: The law and order in the provincial capital remained peaceful during the rally on Saturday due to the foolproof security arrangements evolved by Lahore police.

About 8,000 policemen, including 16 SPs, 60 DSPs and 75 SHOs performed security duties, whereas various police teams conducted search and sweep operations in different areas including Lohari Gate, Bhati Gate, Lorri Adda, Rang Mehal, Shafiqabad, Mochi Gate, Shadbagh and other areas adjacent to the route of the PML-N rally. Police checked people, living in hotels, hostels, shops and other places and verified their identification through Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). The police also banned parking of all private vehicles near the rally route.

The route of the rally was properly checked by experts of special branch and bomb disposal squad. The personnel of Elite Force and special contingents of commandos were deployed on sensitive points for protection of the rally.

The City Traffic police also deployed four SPs, 20 DSPs, 70 inspectors and over 2,000 traffic wardens to ensure smooth traffic flow in city. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Capt (Retd) AminWains, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Ijaz monitored the security arrangements at Shahdara and Data Darbar reception camps.
