Stay-at-home parent and the owner of Awesamosas gives us a glimpse of her long hours in the kitchen

Stay-at-home parent and the owner of Awesamosas takes us through her day and gives us a glimpse of her long hours in the kitchen

7am:

I wake up at 7am sharp. I first rush to the kitchen to prepare breakfast while my children get ready for college.

8am:

At around 8:30am my children leave for college, after which I turn on the TV and wait for my favourite morning show to start.

9am:

My husband wakes up. I prepare breakfast for him and the two of us have tea together. He leaves for work at around 9:30am.

10am:

I rest on the sofa, switching channels on the TV. The clock strikes 10 and I am back in the kitchen. I prepare breakfast for my mother. I wake her up, get her dressed, and the two of us sit together and watch TV while she finishes her breakfast. I then give her medicines.

11am:

The morning show is over and so is my chill time. Now I’m back in the kitchen, working on the catering orders I received. I am also instructing my staff to clean up the house.

12pm:

I organise and prepare the daily food needed at the restaurant. The restaurant opens at 12:30pm so as soon as I’m done, off I go to deliver the food and manage the staff.

1pm:

I come back home and start working on orders. I make the fillings and help my workers make the samosas. We then freeze them.

2pm:

I’m still in the kitchen preparing lunch. Lunch is ready by 2:30pm.

3pm:

Ali, my nephew and partner comes home for lunch. My cousins work nearby as well so on some days they’ll come for lunch too.

4pm:

After lunch we have samosa sessions. It was actually at one of these sessions when we came up with the idea of Awesamosas.

5pm:

We experiment with new fillings, try out unique recipes and talk about innovative marketing ideas for Awesamosas.

6pm:

My children come back and we spend a little quality time together and catch up. Then I am back in the kitchen to prepare dinner.

7pm:

My husband comes back. While he showers and changes, I set up the dinner table. At dinnertime we are always talking. We all share stories about our day and enjoy the delicious homemade food. The way we talk, an hour passes by and we realise that we have lost track of time.

8pm:

While we are still on the table, my husband turns on the TV to watch the 8pm news bulletin. After that we snatch the remote and put on a drama serial. My whole family are avid TV drama followers.

9pm:

I wind up the kitchen, head out for grocery and run errands.

10pm:

On my way back home, I stop by to catch up with my friends in the neighbourhood. Once I’m back home I start cleaning the mess around the house. I put all the dirty clothes in the laundry, organise the cupboards and sort out anything else that needs to be done.

11pm:

I’m still cleaning. I am finally done for the day by 11:30pm. After I shower, I sit on my bed and give myself a foot massage. Finally I stretch my legs and lie down.

12am:

Though I keep switching channels on the TV, I am very sleepy! As soon as the clock strikes 12, I call it a day and sleep.
