Rehman Malik confuses Donald Trump parody account as real

The parody account was quick to point out Senator Malik's gaffe

Senator Rehman Malik on Sunday tweeted to a parody account of US President Donald Trump mistaking it to be the leader's official account.

Malik tweeted at the "US President" saying, "Mr President, here are the ground realities for your kind consideration."

The parody account was quick to point out Senator Malik's gaffe saying, "Senator, with all due respect this is a parody account you can find our real 'President' at @realDonaldTrump"

This is not the first time Pakistani politicians have fallen victim to "fake news". In April, Senator Malik fell for The Express Tribune's April Fools' article which stated the Pakistani government was naming Islamabad's new airport after Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In December last year, then Defence Minister Khawaja Asif directed a nuclear threat to Israel in response to a fake news report that quoted Israeli defence minister threatening to “destroy [Pakistan] with a nuclear attack.”
