10,000 policemen deployed for Nawaz visit

As many as 2,000 traffic wardens will ensure order on roads

LAHORE: Lahore Police will deploy 10,000 police officials including 2,000 traffic wardens to provide security and maintain flow of traffic during the visit of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to the plan, Sharif’s procession will start from Babu Sabu. It will reach Data Darbar after passing through Band Road, Saggian Bridge and Azadi Chowk Flyover. Reception at six points will be given to the rally. To provide security, 16 SPs, 25 DSPs, 60 SHOs, 470 upper subordinate, 30 elites’ vehicles and 5,000 police officials, a total of 8,000 police officials/officers, will be deployed. Ambulances will also escort the procession. Medical camps will also be set on the route. A helipad will also be set-up.

The route will be properly checked by experts of special branch and Bomb Disposal Squad. It will also be cleared by sniffer dogs.

All the shops and markets on the way of the route will be closed down. Roads and streets leading to the route site will be shut down by barbed wires, tents and barricades.

As many as 2,000 wardens, under the supervision of 15 DSPs, will maintain the flow of traffic. Traffic leading to the route site will be diverted after setting diversions.
