A police official said 65-year-old Ghafoor Ahmad of Chak No 60 had an argument with his wife Sakina Bibi, 50, over domestic matters. He added when the arguments escalated, Ghafoor killed her with an axe. After the incident, the accused fled the scene. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, a man was shot dead over an old enmity in Jaranwala City police limits. Police said Rana Hafeez, a resident of Chak No 571,was going somewhere when his rivals opened indiscriminate fire on him. As a result, he was killed on the spot. The police took the body into custody and started investigation.
A minor girl was electrocuted to death in her house in Madina Town police limits. A police official said six-year-old Fatima was playing on the roof of her house in New Green Town when she accidentally touched an electricity wire. As a result, she received a fatal electric shock.

Meanwhile, the police arrested four suspects and seized arms and ammunition from them. A police spokesman said teams of different police stations conducted raids and arrested four criminals. The police also seized drugs, liquor, pistols from their possession. Police have registered separate cases against the accused.
The Federal Investigation Agency arrested two human smugglers over fraud charges. FIA officials said accused Naveed Asif of Chak No 281, had received Rs 250,000 from Abid Rasheed for sending him abroad. However, he neither sent him abroad nor returned his money. Similarly, Ahmad Hasan of Samanabad filed a complaint against Nadir Ali for receiving Rs 1 million for sending his sons to Malaysia.
The FIA officials shifted the accused to undisclosed location for investigation.
