Karachi court hands down 10 years to man for raping 6-year-old girl

The child had gone to the man's shop in Korangi in 2015 to buy candies where he raped her

KARACHI: A Karachi court sentenced a man to 10 years in prison on Saturday after he was convicted of raping a six-year-old girl two years ago in Korangi.

Additional district and sessions judge for district east Zahiba Khattak handed down the sentence to Hamza Khan, a shopkeeper.

According to the prosecution, in November 2015, the child went to Khan’s shop in Korangi to buy candies where he raped her.

The court observed that the victim had given an explicit testimony about the incident, while other witnesses had also given statements against Khan and the documentary evidence submitted also proved his crime.

Judge Khattak while pronouncing the judgement ordered Khan to pay a fine of Rs50,000. In case he failed to pay, he would undergo six more months of imprisonment.

The case was registered under Section 376 (rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the child's father.
