PML-Q’s standpoint: ‘MQM Lahore rally a symbol of federation’

SUKKUR:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) public meeting in Lahore should be seen as a symbol of the federation and an attempt to bring together everyone on one platform, said Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed.

Talking to journalists at the Sukkur airport on Saturday evening, Syed said that every political party has a right to hold public meetings. Sindh’s parties can hold public meetings in the Punjab and vice versa. Given an invitation to attend the rally, Syed said, “We sure will attend”.

Expressing his disapproval of the present rulers, he said that the government is nowhere to be found because it has failed miserably. Thar is blessed with high quality coal but nothing, except tall claims, has been made by the government, he said.

Syed said that he was visiting Sukkur to organise the PML-Q in Sukkur, Shikarpur and Larkana districts. He also complained about the political victimisation of three PML-Q members, Shaharyar Maher, Altaf Unnar and Ayaz Sherazi, in Sindh. Syed believed that he was not seeing the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz in the future, as the future is of his party.

Referring to the reference filed by the government in the apex court for reopening Bhutto’s murder case, he said that Bhutto’s murder was politically motivated and it is good to seek the court’s decision.

The murder cases of Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto should also be reopened otherwise government’s move would be viewed as a double standard, he said.

Syed felt that former home minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, was doing well and the Sindh government removed him only after succumbing to pressure from the MQM. This step should be seen, however, in the light of harmony and reconciliation, he added.
