Teams of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) visited various food outlets and found rotten vegetables, and expired boxes of food at a pizza outlet. Determining the quality of the food to be ‘unsatisfactory’, the inspection team fined the outlet Rs40,000.
Similarly, the team also observed unhygienic conditions and rotten vegetable at a popular burger chain. They also found the restaurant was using cylinders of carbon dioxide without undertaking proper precautionary measures. Moreover, they were found to be underpaying their staff. A fine of Rs30,000 was imposed on the outlet.
At a tea and coffee cafe, the ICTA staff found that kitchen staff was not wearing any headgear or gloves, as required. Criminal cases were registered against these outlets.
