FAISALABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq on Tuesday awarded life sentence to a man for killing a person in Saddar police area.

The prosecution told the court that accused Ashfaq Shah and his accomplices Waqas, Adil Shah, Asif, Akmal, Muhammad Naveed, Ehsan and Nawaz had killed Matloob Hussain over an old enmity in 2012. However, the police arrested them and submitted a challan in the court.

After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded life imprisonment to the Ashfaq. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the accused that would be given to the heirs of the deceased. However, the judge acquitted others giving them the benefit of doubt.

Earlier, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq awarded life imprisonment to a convict for killing a man in Saddar police area. Convict Jamshed had shot dead a passerby Kamran during a clash with his opponents. Later, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in the court. After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded life term to the convict.

Similarly, an Anti-Terrorism Court awarded life imprisonment to a convict in a kidnapping for ransom case in Dera Ghazi Khan. Abdul Khaliq had abducted Muhammad Asghar in 2013 from the precincts of Harrand police station.
