‘Joint efforts required to control dengue outbreak’

Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq has stressed the need of joint efforts by the government departments and the community to control the outbreak of dengue. He said that we can stop the spread of dengue mosquitoes as a community by removing the stagnant water and eradicating hotspots within houses and on the roofs.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat on Friday. Primary and Secondary Health Minister Khawaja Salman Nazir, Chief Secretary Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed, Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan,  Dengue Experts Advisory Group Convener Prof Faisal Masood, , Chief Minister Dengue Research Cell In-charge Prof Wasim Akram, secretaries of departments concerned, special secretaries, public health experts, PITB officers etc. attended the meeting.

While commissioners, deputy commissioners and health CEOs of other divisions participated in the meeting through video link.

General Dengue Control Additional Director Dr Farrukh Sultan briefed the meeting on the overall dengue situation in Punjab. He informed that 37 confirmed dengue patients have been reported so farduring the last six and a half months.
