LAHORE: Yet another case of honour killing was reported in the city on Tuesday. A man named Shahzad shot dead her sister Bushra Bibi, 35, and her daughter, Noor, 16, at their house in Badami Bagh.

Police said Bushra had contracted fourth marriage with a man of her own choice, which angered her brother. Noor, who was from Bushra’s first husband, lived with her grandmother. On Tuesday, she had come to meet her mother when Shahzad, along with two unidentified accomplices, stormed into their house, shot them dead and fled.

Police added that the suspect was unhappy over her sister’ fourth marriage and also didn’t want her niece, Noor, to visit her stepfather’ house to meet her mother because he feared she would involve her in prostitution.

According to the Aurat Foundation, over 3,000 women were killed in the name honour over the last two-and-a-half years.
