MUZAFFARABAD: At least six people were killed and one other injured in the two separate road accidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday.

According to City Police Station SHO Rashid Habib, a family was heading to the tourist spot Pir Chinasi in a Suzuki Mehran car (IDD-347) from Muzaffarabad, the capital of AJK.

As the car neared Niazpura, some 30 kilometres from Muzaffarabad, it plunged into the deep ravine while negotiating a sharp turn. The fall destroyed the car and killed everyone but a young boy in the car. Locals and police rushed to the spot to rescue any survivors and to pull out the bodies.

Those who were killed in the accident were identified as Muhammad Altaf (the driver), Arshad Altaf, Aleena Altaf, Sajila Imtiaz, Arfat Mahboob and Ghulam Qadir. A nine-year-old boy Raza Mir survived with serious injuries.  Mir, who was described to be in critical condition, was shifted to the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Hospital for treatment.
