The City Traffic Police (CTP) has rounded up 137 beggars from the city during June while 55 cases have been lodged against professional beggars. According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Yousaf Ali Shahid, the cases were registered in police stations across the city. He said that among those caught, 51 beggars were children. These children had been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau (CPB) for rehabilitation. Further, Shahid said that they had formed a special anti-beggar squad of CTP and Rawalpindi district police which raided different roads and intersections in accordance with the law was being taken against beggars.
