Population Census: District control rooms set up for coordination

Population and Housing Census kicks off.

The Population and Housing Census kicked off on Tuesday, with district control rooms set up for easier communication across the province.


A control room was set up by district coordination officer (DCO) Aftab Ahmed Khatri. He said the control room would run for 24 hours and can be contacted at 022-9200115 and fax No. 022-9201316. Khatri appointed Mohsin Nazar Jafri the liaison officer and directed all census district officers to establish control rooms for easy coordination with census workers.

The census was inaugurated in Shaheed Benazirabad by MNA Faryal Talpur and DCO Jamal Mustafa, who has been nominated as the circuit census officer. Nearly 599 staff workers are conducting the population census in the 1,156 blocks of the district, which are divided into four census districts.

Mirpurkhas DCO Ghulam Hussain Memon has asked people to cooperate with the teams and provide correct information. A district control room has been set up at the DCO’s office and can be contacted at 9290072. Assistant Census Commissioner Mohammad Shafique said that 28 charge, 134 circle and 1,061 blocks have been formed in Mirpurkhas under 613 teachers and workers.
