Girls outshine boys in HSSC-II exams

ISLAMABAD: Girls outshone boys in the higher secondary school certificate-II (HSSC-II) annual examinations, with six of them together with a boy sharing the top three positions

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced results of the examinations on Wednesday evening, listing an overall pass percentage of 83.36%.  The FBISE said that a total of 85,140 regular and private students had appeared for the exams, of which 70,969 were declared as successful. The pass percentage for regular students remained 91.82 per cent while only 47.64 per cent of private students passed the exams.

Qandeel Khurshid of the Islamabad Model College for Girls in Sector I - 10/4 and Shehzeen Tariq of the Connoisseur Grammar School System on Queen Road in Sargodha Cantt shared the first position, with both securing 1,034 marks from a maximum of 1,050 marks. The even split was somewhat indicative of education standards in the government-run and privately run educational facilities.

The second position was shared between Momina BVashir of the Army Public School for Girls in Lahore and Wajeeha Irfan from the Army Public School and College in Rawalpindi. Both secured 1,032 marks, hot on the heels of the chart toppers.

The third position was shared by three students who secured 1,031 marks. They were Maheer Mubashir of Iqra Grammar School in Sargodha, Zahra Nawaz of The Educators High School in Rawalpindi and Isbah Iftikhar of the Hamza Army Public School in Rawalpindi.
