Counterfeit Medicines: MPA wants effective use of Drug Act

Strict action should be taken against factories involved in manufacturing counterfeit medicine

LAHORE: A resolution was moved in the Punjab Assembly, seeking the implementation of the Drug Act 2017 and the launch of an operation against the mafia involved in manufacturing counterfeit medicine. The resolution was moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Nabila Hakim Ali. She demanded the Punjab government devise a mechanism for the renewal of the licences of owners of medical stores. She requested the government be restrained from taking steps that could affect their businesses. Nabila demanded the provincial government ensure the implementation of the Drug Act. She added strict action should be taken against factories involved in manufacturing counterfeit medicine.
