RAWALPINDI: The civil administration is effectively monitoring the prices of essential items in the markets, Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal said on Wednesday. He said an effective mechanism was in place to monitor the prices of essential commodities in order to provide relief to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan. He said stern action was being taken against shopkeepers found involved in hoarding, profiteering and adulteration. He directed the officers to ensure provision of essential items to the general public at controlled rates. He said that an effective system was also in place for uninterrupted supply of fruit and vegetables at the 16 designated sale points.
