South Asia's own version of pancakes., Malpura is made on celebratory occasions. It's a breakfast item, which is served with milk or tea, early morning before Eid or before an early walk during December. The Malpura is a regional favourite and is the recipe for a perfect morning.

Legend has it that these mouth-watering miracles originated from the Ancient Greeks, called τηγανίτης (tēganitēs). The first appearance of the pancakes are recorded in 5th century poets Cratinus and Magnes. According to Myolddutch.com, Romans ate a sweet dish called "Alita Dolcia" which are recognisable across Europe as pancakes by adding different ingredients. The word 'crêpe' is a French word for pancake, and is a derivative of the Latin word 'crispus' which means 'curled.'  The first traces of the crêpe are from Brittany, in the northwest of France. Crêpes were originally meant to be called 'galettes' which means flat cakes. Originally, there are two kinds of crêpes; crêpe sucrees and crêpe salees. The former is the sweeter version and is made with white flour, while the latter is unsweetened and is made with buckwheat flour.

Sara | 7 years ago | Reply We should not up our carb intake during long summer ramzans. Instead the best diet during such short periods of eating is a keto diet, ie. Zero to non carbs and increased fat and protein. The rural diet of beef and Desi butter is best these days.
