Fatal crash: Young man killed in road accident

SARGODHA: A young man was killed in a road accident in the jurisdiction of Sajid Shaheed police station on Monday. The victim, Waqar Ahmad, 25, along with his father was on his way home on a motorcycle when a coaster hit them near Qainchee Morr, killing Waqar on the spot.

In a separate incident, an alleged killer was shot dead while seven others, including four policemen were injured in police encounter in the limits of Bhalwal police.

Police said three suspects, Zulfiqar Ali, Rana Mukhtar and Khalid, had come to the court of Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich in Bhalwal when their opponents Akram and Nawaz, along with their 10 accomplices, opened fire on them. As a result, Zulfiqar died instantly while Mukhtar and Khalid were injured.

The fleeing accused opened fire on the police, injuring four policemen named Shahbaz, Sikandar, Zahid and Ramzan. However, the police succeeded in arresting two of the accused.
