PPP invites Jamali to join party

Jamali says he will decide to join or not base on what is best for the country.

JAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday invited former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to join their party.

PPP provincial president Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani who called on Jamali at his residence in Jaffarabad, invited him to join the party.

Talking to the media, Jamali said that he started his political carrier from the platform of the PPP however whatever he decides would be for the benefit of country.

Abdul Rehman Jamali, Zafarullah Jamali’s brother, General Secretary of PPP Balochistan Ayatullah Durrani and other provincial ministers of the party were also present at the occasion.

Earlier, Jamali had joined the Muttahida Muslim League (MML), which was a party formed after the coming together of several Pakistan Muslim League (PML) factions, headed by Pir Pagara.

However, after Jamali failed to get the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on board, he resigned as the convener of the steering committee of the MML.

Syed A. Mateen | 13 years ago | Reply I remember that once Mr. Jamali (while with the Muslim League) said that he was a Muslim Leaguer at the time when Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah founded the Muslim League. How come he now says that he started his political career from PPP?

Abdul Ali | 13 years ago | Reply Mr.Jamali began his political career by contesting his first election in 1977 on Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party ticket. He later quit PPP after General Zia ousted the Bhutto government in a military coup and threw his weight behind the military ruler and became a minister in the provincial cabinet in 1982. After the stint as federal minister for power under Zia , Jamali was elected as Baluchistan chief minister with one vote majority in 1988. However Jamali's government did not last even a month. He was appointed the chief minister of the same province again in 1990 and in 1996. Jamali later identified himself with Pakistan Muslim League, (PML) headed by former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif and went to UN as Pakistan's representative 1991. Though he has been active in politics, his last success came after he identified himself with the pro-Musharraf wing of the PML-Q. and was elected as Prime Minister with one vote majority. He called Musharaf his "Boss" only to be removed by the Boss. Mr. Jamali, keep on changing political parties. ,this is your past tradition

Dissolving the provincial assembly, joining hands with musharraf, becoming his prime minister and calling him "my boss" and maligning him when he and his "boss" were not in power. Pakistan doesn't need politicians of his likes. So better if he keeps himself away from the politics and do Allah, Allah.

Why place a blemished mark next to your hallmark by joining a party that has lost her character. A wise statesman said; Pray that your loneliness may spur you into finding something to live for, greater enough to die for. Put your efforts and experience in your province by forming a single strong party acceptable to all factions, And also with following in two other provinces.
