130 dead as ceasefire brokered in Kurram

As clashes between rival groups continued for 11 consecutive days in the Kurram tribal district, reports have emerged of a ceasefire between the warring tribespeople.

In the latest incidents, six more people were killed and eight injured, bringing the total death toll to 130, with 186 injured. Deputy Commissioner Kurram, Javedullah Mehsud, reported that police and security forces have been deployed in various areas of Lower Kurram to enforce a ceasefire, while efforts to negotiate peace in other regions were ongoing.

According to Express News, a ceasefire has been achieved, following which police and security forces were deployed in the area.

Deputy Commissioner Kurram Javed Mehsud stated that police and security forces have been stationed at various locations in Lower Kurram to enforce the ceasefire. Efforts to establish peace in other areas are also underway.

He further added that due to the unrest in Kurram, all routes, including the main Peshawar-Parachinar highway, remain closed. Transportation along the district's main roads and at the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border is also suspended.

The road closures have caused severe shortages of fuel, food supplies, and medicine, worsening the situation for the local population.
