A number of sports have tried to topple cricket as the number one sport in Pakistan but none have even come close to accomplishing that.
The way cricket does it for Pakistanis, nothing else comes close. One good knock, one good spell and you become an overnight superstar in the eyes of Pakistan cricket fans.
At the same time, you disappoint them and the same devotees turn into detractors, calling for your head with all their might.

This penchant for extremities is what makes Pakistan fans the most unique and most passionate supporters in all of cricket.
In a recently released ICC promo of today's crucial Pakistan-South Africa encounter, cricketers Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali were asked to comment what they think of their fans.
