Representatives of the City District Government Karachi will meet a delegation of dairy farmers on April 4 (today) to discuss a possible reversal of milk prices. This was decided in a meeting on Sunday, where a consumer rights organisation met with the city government to discuss the ‘unfair’ price hike.
The organisation complained about the CDGK’s failure to control the unprecedented rise. They pointed out that the price was raised in December 2010 and the Rs10 increase per litre in three months was unrealistic. City administrator Lala Fazlur Rehman explained that they had experienced the same opposition after the December 2010 rise, but back then, they had no choice but to allow the dairy farmers. Now however, another hike in three months was unjust and the city plans to take strict action, he assured.
Revenue EDO Roshan Ali Shaikh, Export and Investment Promotions EDO Dr Saifur Rehman and CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy attended the meeting.
