PESHAWAR: Jereh Group of China is engaged in further negotiations with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Oil and Gas Company (KPOGCL) - a provincial holding company - for setting up a 15,000-barrel-per-day refinery in K-P to cater to the needs of exploration companies operating in the region.

Jereh Group CEO HE Li visited Peshawar along with a technical tem to discuss future plans with K-P Energy and Power Secretary Muhammad Naeem Khan, Planning and Development Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, KPOGCL CEO Muhammad Raziuddin and KPOGCL DGM Nouman Akbar.

Expressing his views, the Jereh Group CEO said after reviewing all possibilities, the Jereh Group was interested in taking the project forward. The visiting delegation also received a pre-feasibility study conducted by KPOGCL.

Speaking on the occasion, the KPOGCL CEO said the refinery project would create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs for the province and would be beneficial for hydrocarbon exploration and production companies in K-P.

“We envision a pipeline infrastructure directly from the wellhead to the refinery. According to a memorandum of understanding that has already been signed, the Jereh Group will conduct a detailed feasibility study,” said Raziuddin.

Furthermore, after the successful execution of the project, $1 million will be spent on community development on account of Corporate Social Responsibility, he said.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in Beijing on April 19, 2017 for the joint venture partnership for establishing the much-needed refinery in the province.

KPOGCL will act as the facilitator and provide one-window operations to the Jereh Group ranging from security to the ground-breaking ceremony for execution of the project.
