ISLAMABAD: Completion of development work and provision of all civic amenities in the residential sectors, opened decades ago, is the topmost priority of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Sector I-16 is also among those sectors which were opened decades ago, but proper attention was not given to its development. However, after completing residual development work, funds amounting to Rs9.07 million have been released for laying of water supply system in sector I-16/.

Mayor of Islamabad and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed these views while chairing a meeting at CDA headquarters. The meeting reviewed the progress of development in Sector I-16. On this occasion, senior officers of concerned formations of CDA and IMC were also present.

Aziz said that like other residential sectors, development of Sector I-16 also remained stalled due to misplaced priorities.

However, the new management of CDA had reprioritised development work on stalled sectors such as D-12 and Park Enclave. He said that many of the issues pertaining to sectors E-12, I-12, I-11 and  I-15 have been resolved. He added that provision of all basic amenities are being ensured in Sector I-16 as a number of allottees are their busy constructing their houses in the sector. He directed to issue tenders to lay water supply network so that work on this project could be initiated at the earliest.

On this occasion, the CDA chairman was briefed that tenders amounting to Rs9m have been invited through national press.

Aziz directed the concerned formations to complete the project within given time frame.
