CS orders intensified dengue prevention

All departments should extend full cooperation to anti-dengue activities as now was the time to cope with the disease

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Captain (Retd) Zahid Saeed directed the housing secretary to hold private housing societies accountable if they don’t comply to dengue guidelines. He issued these instructions at a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on Friday.

He directed the deputy commissioners to improve the mechanism for dengue surveillance and reporting by focusing more on the quality of work.

Addressing the meeting, the chief secretary said all departments should extend full cooperation to anti-dengue activities as now was the time to cope with the disease. “Concerted efforts are needed to eradicate dengue once and for all.” He ordered the health department to provide training on patient management to doctors of private hospitals and clinics.

The chief secretary issued instructions to speed up the process of recruitment of entomologists in districts if required. He also directed the deputy commissioners of Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Multan to prepare a better strategy compared to last year to tackle the virus.

Provincial Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khwaja Salman Rafique said there was a need to work with national spirit to eradicate dengue.
