When buying a mobile phone, one thinks of two things, how much will it cost? And how long will it last me? What we mean when we talk about how long a mobile phone lasts is not about how long we can use a phone till it fries or stops working, we’re talking about how long one can use a phone till it can no longer work new apps, capture a certain standard of photos or even have enough battery for the cellular workload required. Keeping in mind battery life, camera, storage space and whether or not phones are NFC and VR ready, today we will be curating a list of mobile phones one can invest in that won’t be obsolete any time soon:

Moto G4 Play:

The lowest priced Motorola phone on the market right now, it boasts a 720p screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing selfie shooter. It runs Android 6.0 and is upgradable to 7.0, which is something not many budget devices can brag about. With a primary 8MP camera and secondary 5MP camera, this phone holds its own against some of the more expensive devices. Add NFC capabilities for future usage and this device will last you a while and not dent your wallet as much as other options. At Rs29, 999, this is one of the best budget devices on the market right now.

Lenovo P2:

This device has some unexpected specifications for its price point, and it's rounded out into an attractive package that looks like a premium phone that does not give the ‘budget phone’ vibe. The stand-out feature of this device is the 5100 mAh battery, offering two days’ worth of battery life. This device comes with 2 GHz Octa-core processor, 1080p display, 64GB of storage space and 4GB RAM. The shooters on this device are 13MP primary and 5MP secondary, guaranteeing reliability when it comes to handling social media for work or leisure, especially when coupled with the exceptional battery life. At Rs32, 900, the Lenovo P2 is a beast of a device.

Nexus 6P:

Sometimes, the best way to make sure you’re ahead of everyone else is by being on the priority list for new updates, the Nexus series offers just that, after the hugely successful Nexus 5, last year the Nexus series welcomed two new additions to the family, the 5x and the 6p. Apart from being NFC and VR ready, this Huawei made device offers and Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, up to 128GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. What makes this device special is how it promises 12.3 MP primary and 8 MP secondary camera capabilities while also guaranteeing above par battery performance with its 3450 mAh battery strength. All of these characteristics make it last you longer than you would expect it to. The only downside being it priced a little higher than the other phones on this list, however, with it not having licensed distributors in Pakistan, one is likely to find this device at a cheaper price considering how it is relatively old now.

OPPO F3:

Perhaps the only phone on the market that can brag about the fact that every photo taken will be perfect, along with the device lasting an entire day or more, has expandable storage space, better RAM than most devices on this list, and is really cheap for a device that came out a month ago. This phone will have relevant specifications for the foreseeable future and has made OPPO make some innovative moves. The loss of NFC is compensated by a feature known as Clone Apps, which allows you to have two instances of the same application on this device. The F3 boasts two front facing cameras, one standing at 16MP and the other at 8MP, which is a 120 degree, wide-angle selfie camera, specifically for group selfies, and a primary 13MP camera. Considering how camera dependent the youth is, this device will have them engaged by promising a consistent social media performance. It has a 1.5 Ghz Octa Core processor, 64GB of storage space, 4GB RAM and a 1080p screen. The F3 has a premium design build and comes equipped with Android 6.0. At Rs34, 899 this is the go-to phone for those looking for future-proofing and value.
