PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) reiterated on Sunday its resolute stance on the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) reforms by stating that the party would not allow anyone to impose any law on its residents without their consent.

This was decided upon in the party’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Council meeting chaired by provincial Naib Ameer Attaul Haq at its Peshawar headquarters. Both provincial and local leaders were in attendance including JUI-F provincial spokesperson Abdul Jalil Jan.

The participants expressed their reservations on introducing the said laws on the people without the consent of the locals.

Moreover,  attendees conveyed their disappointment over the character assassination ditched out by lawmakers in Pakistan towards party leadership over their stance in this regard.

Another stalemate over FATA reforms

The party's alliance with other political parties was also discussed.
Directives were also given to form a committee that would look into all alliance matters.

The committee will also submit suggestions to the alliance keeping in view the results of the last three general elections after Eidul Fitr for all 99 constituencies.

JUI-F has constituted a five-member committee to look into alliance matters and seat adjustments with other political parties in the upcoming general elections in 2018.

Jan shared his grave concern over the announcement of the party's candidate for the upcoming elections without consulting with top leadership.

"This is a warning for all present in this meeting not to violate party discipline with speculation like this," he added.

FATA reforms shelved indefinitely yet again

In the wake of the attack on the attack on the Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, the leadership said that it was a pre-planned attack.

The attack tried to fracture the unity in the country and action must be taken to apprehend those responsible for the attack which left dozens killed in Mastung.
