Hence consumers, who were generating surplus power through solar or wind systems, can now sell this excess electricity back to power distribution companies at off-peak rates.
The model follows similar experiments in several countries – especially those in Europe. Apart from allowing consumers to benefit from their power generating systems, it would help government overcome unending power deficit.
Iesco is the first power distribution company which has offered its customers to sell their extra electricity, said Iesco CEO Bait Zama.
