Shalem's body was brought at his residence in New Maryam Square building near Railway Cantt while the funeral prayers were held at St Anthony's Church at 4pm. Shalem was laid to rest in Gora Qabristan.
According to the sister of the deceased, Shunem Kamran, the family has contacted Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, to intervene in the matter as the Sindh police are not taking the case seriously and only one suspect has been arrested in the last five days. She said the Rangers have assured them of fair investigations. The Rangers had said that if the two brothers, who are among the six friends nominated in the FIR registered by the family, do not show up till Friday, they will intervene in the arrests and investigation, Shunem added. The Rangers, meanwhile, were unavailable for comment.
