Road Sense : Rescue 1122 launches scout programme  

Aim is to utilise the skills of middle schoolchildren to convince their parents and families about traffic rules

LAHORE: A road safety awareness programme called Rescue Scouts was launched on Monday to instill traffic principles among students during their formative years,  The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), in collaboration with the Citizens’ Mobility and Development Foundation (CMDF), launched the service at the School of Contemporary and Islamic Learning (SCIL).  Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer, who chief guest at the event, said students trained under the programme would be called Rescue Scouts.

“The aim is to utilise the skills of middle schoolchildren to convince their parents and families about traffic rules and regulations. According to him, professionals and educators from CMDF as well as Rescue 1122 representatives would educate the children about road safety, basic driving rules and regulations, along with core rescue techniques through visual presentation, interactive sessions, a question and answer session with the children as well as a skit on the importance of the road safety. “Rescue 1122 is imparting training of emergency management and safety promotion at educational institutions,” he said.
