ECP links 70,000 polling stations to Google Maps

Move was discussed in meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza

To make it easier for voters to locate their assigned polling stations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has linked more than 70,000 proposed polling stations in the country with Google Maps.

Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, chaired a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday during which the move was discussed.



Google Maps has become a popular way for people to map out routes and directions. The ECP’s initiative will make it easier for voters to locate their polling stations, get the estimated distance from their residence and map out the optimal route online.

Google Maps also allows downloading of maps and offline navigation to assist those who may not have consistent internet access as is the case for many internet users in Pakistan.
