A three-day National Shuhda Shooting Competition, an initiative of National Police Bureau (NPB), kicked off with a bang on Friday. Shooters of 11 teams from all over the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), were set to blow away their targets in a competition which was being organised to improve skills of the participants. Prominent among the competitors were policewomen competing with handguns on the range. Brig (Retd) Ayaz Khan performed the inaugural ceremony which was attended by NPB Director General Iqbal Mehmood, IG Islamabad Khalid Khattak, DIG Sajjad Afridi and MD NPF Zubair Mir. The initiative has been lauded not only by police organisations but also by residents of Islamabad who consider this as an important contribution towards community responsive policing. The closing session will be held on May 15 where winners will be given awards.
