MULTAN: A family dispute turned violent in Bhakkar when a man killed the father and brother of his wife after they tried to pressure him into divorcing her, police sources said on Thursday.

According to details, 33-year-old Hamza, a resident of Wadhay Wali, had married Aqsa, 23, in October last year.

Fearing a strong reaction from their families, the couple had eloped and left their hometown.

After a gap of about seven months, Hamza and Aqsa finally visited their homes, where the woman's father threatened Hamza and asked him to divorce his daughter.

During a heated exchange, Hamza opened fire on his in-laws, killing his father-in-law and brother-in-law died.

The victims have been identified as 60-year-old Atta Muhammad and 28-year-old Muteeullah. Meanwhile, Jahangir, 30, Aqsa’s other brother, was seriously injured in the incident. He is being treated at District Headquarters Hospital, Bhakkar.

Police said they have started an investigation but no arrests have been made so far.
