PESHAWAR: Ever been in a situation where torrential rains flood your street and prevent you from leaving home, and you have no way to bring the situation in authorities notice? Peshawar has finally found a solution.

The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) launched the “Safa Pekhawar” complaint registration mobile app, a portal that allows users to register complaints concerning drainage, garbage, and water supply related problems in Peshawar.

The complaints are processed by the Management Information Systems (MIS) administrator of the WSSP and assigned to the officials responsible for resolving the problem. WSSP uses a heat map displaying real time data of how the complaints are distributed and its current status.

Developed by a group of three K-P Civic Innovation Fellows, the app is a joint program of Code for Pakistan, K-PITB and the World Bank. The K-P Civic Innovation Fellowship has placed around 20 fellows from this year’s cohort in five different provincial government departments. During their six-month fellowship, they develop technology and digital solutions to improve citizen-facing government service delivery.
