They were speaking at a ceremony to mark their senior leader Chaudhry Muhammad Sawrar’s membership to United Kingdom’s parliament.
The party members said the Panama revelations had become the main topics of discussion in every household as the scandal had ruined the socioeconomic fabric of the country.
They stressed that the rulers had failed to rein in the energy crisis or control inflation and injustice. The PTI members stressed on the need to strengthen the party’s lower ranks to address the issues of the common man.
The ceremony was attended by the former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, PTI Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mian Mahmoodu -Rasheed, former PTI Punjab president Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry, former central vice chairman Hamid Khan, Central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan and members of the Punjab Assembly, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Sadia Sohail.
On the occasion, Sarwar said he was in politics to serve people of Pakistan. “I am proud that I was the first Muslim and Pakistani to become a member of the UK Parliament. Later, several other Muslims and Pakistanis bagged this honor and right now around 20 Pakistanis are members of the UK Parliament and House of Lords,” he maintained.
Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood said PTI wanted to introduce a new system of governance in the country which would eradicate corruption, injustice, inflation and unemployment. He said the party should benefit from the experience of Sarwar and use his energies for the betterment of the country. “Under the leadership of party chairman Imran Khan, the PTI will win the battle against corruption.
PTI Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood said Imran Khan had created awareness among the masses about corruption and this resulted in all citizens wanting to see it removed from the system.
