PESHAWAR: The K-P Elementary and Secondary Education Department on Saturday launched a School Quality Management Initiative [SQMI] in the province.

K-P school enrollment drive suffers as teachers protest

In the first phase, the project would be launched as a pilot in Abbottabad. The primary aim of SQMI is to revitalise the function of the Education Directorate to inspect the quality of teaching and learning process in K-P’s schools in a manner which is practical, useful, cost-effective and sustainable.

Moreover, the programme would monitor the quality of teaching and learning with a view to regularly identify needs where the quality of teaching can be improved.

K-P to only hire women as primary school teachers

The SQMI shall also help the Elementary and Secondary Education Department (ESED) provide regular feedback to teachers and headmasters for remedial action. As a result, the system would empower the Assistant District Education Officers (ASDEOs) to carry out effective and useful inspections.
