KARACHI: A court granted bail on Saturday to a man accused of blackmailing his ex-wife and sharing her private photos and videos on social networking websites, a day after police registered a case against him.

The 26-year-old complainant A* told The Express Tribune that although the police had registered a case, they had not implicated her ex-husband in enough sections in the FIR.

Before the FIR was lodged, she had registered a complaint against her ex-husband, who lives in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

In the complaint, the woman told the police that after she had obtained a khula, her ex-husband had started harassing her using social networking websites.

"My ex-husband has been threatening me and my sisters that he will throw acid on us," she said.

She claimed that her ex-husband had tried to throw acid on her a couple of times and also kidnapped her 14-year-old sister while she was returning from school and tortured her.

Special Assistant to the CM on Human Rights Rehana Leghari had taken notice of the incident a few days back and wrote a letter to the relevant authorities about the applicant and her family's ordeal and how her ex-husband and his family had been harassing her.
