South Korean giant Samsung has now been granted approval to test its very own self-driving car, according to The Korea Herald. The approval, which comes from South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, will allow the smartphone maker to test out its currently under development, autonomous vehicle on public roads.

The autonomous car project uses deep-learning technology and artificial intelligence based on a commercialised Hyundai vehicle, which will be able to navigate even in challenging weather conditions.
Samsung is among 20 other companies that have received approval to test autonomous vehicles by South Korean authorities. "Self-driving cars call for the collaboration of various cutting-edge technologies from the automobile, artificial intelligence and information communication sectors," the ministry said
