MULTAN: A labourer suffered critical injuries when a brick kiln owner unleashed a dog at him for demanding outstanding wages in sub district Kabirwala, Khanewal on Sunday.

An official of Nawan Shehar police station said Sajid Ali, 18, resident of Salarwahan, had been working at the brick kiln owned by Rafiullah. He added, “On the day of the incident, Sajid demanded three months dues and also urged Rafiullah to increase his wages.”

The police official maintained, “This infuriated Rafiullah and he unleashed his pet dog at the labourer.”

As a result, Sajid was critically injured by dog bites and was shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Kabirwala for treatment.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Sajid said, “When I demanded dues, Rafiullah started quarrelling with me.”

He added, “I needed money for my mother’s treatment as she is suffering from kidney disease.”  He said, “Instead of paying money, the kiln owner unleashed his dog at me.”

Meanwhile, a police official told The Express Tribune that they have arrested the accused and further information would be revealed after interrogation from him.
