Musharraf trial: LHC adjourns hearing till April 7

LHC adjourns hearing of writ petition seeking trial of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

Express March 30, 2011

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing of a writ petition seeking the trial of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf on charges of high treason under Article 6 of the Constitution till April 7 on Tuesday.

The case was adjourned because the lawyers did not turn up in court.  Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Friday rejected the adjournment plea of the federal government. Saeed observed that at least 16 adjournments had already been granted to the government but it had failed to respond.  Justice Saeed had asked the petitioner’s counsel AK Dogar to continue his arguments but on March 29 he did not appear and sent an adjournment request. The court is hearing a petition filed by Advocate Rana Ilmuddin Ghazi.
