Military and civilian spheres

Rabia Shakoor May 17, 2010

CHAPEL HILL: This is with reference to Talat Hussain’s article ‘A ‘cover letter’ of consultation’ (May 17).

If I may quote one sentence from the piece: “Whether the army’s control of and role in foreign policy is the cause of civilian leaders disinterest or a result of their ineptitude and incompetence is a subject of lengthy debate” Of course the writer, an apologist par excellence for the military’s encroachment into politics, would think of only these two options. What a masterfully crafted sentence!
